Budget win: diffferent researches the future of media use with WDR

How and through which channels will people consume media and distribute content in the future? And what role will large media companies play in this context? Strategy consultancy diffferent is finding answers to these questions together with the WDR Innovation Hub, an interdisciplinary team within Westdeutscher Rundfunk. The budget win was preceded by a pitch, which diffferent won.
With the help of an extensive co-creative scenario and foresight process, the Berlin-based strategists are now developing well-founded and consistent future scenarios for media use in German-speaking countries for WDR. These serve as the basis for a long-term program strategy that is geared towards the needs of different target groups in a rapidly changing media landscape.
“We have the future firmly in our sights. Together with diffferent, we analyse trends, test assumptions and think ahead - from the attention economy to social polarization and the role of politics. The end result is a strategy that will help WDR, together with ARD, to remain relevant in the future and meet the needs of different target groups,” says Arne Orgassa from the WDR Innovation Hub.
Paul End, Managing Director of diffferent, adds: “Actively shaping the future - that is our aspiration at diffferent. Foresight is one of our core competencies. We are proud that our foresight expertise is now benefiting ARD's largest broadcaster.”
In addition to WDR, diffferent was also recently commissioned by Techniker Krankenkasse. The strategists and consultants are also implementing a foresight project for Germany's largest health insurance company.
